The site where The Grand Olde Station now operates once served as a functioning train depot for Lake Toxaway. Over time, the depot fell out of use, but the caboose you see today evokes the spirit of that original era. Similar to the cars that once rolled through this very site, our caboose reminds us of what travel, commerce, and gathering looked like decades ago. According to our Caboose page, “honoring the original purpose of our property … we were able to restore a historic train caboose. The caboose is similar to what one would have seen years ago on the same site.”
